James “Andy” Brickey, 89, of Concord, went home Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
Andy was a native of Fort Blackmore, VA and has been a resident of the Charlotte area for many years. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, The Friendship Sunday School Class, and sang in the choir. Andy was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Consolidated Freightways after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Stokes Masonic Lodge in Concord. He enjoyed the mountains, was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Andy was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Madeline Shoemaker Brickey, mother, Kate Brickey, twin sister, Tempa Lane, sister, Jo Doran, brothers, E. B. and Gail Brickey.
Mr. Brickey is survived by his children; Kathy (Perry) Phillips, Andrea (Ronnie) Wilson, grandchildren; Justin (Jenny) Phillips, Joey (Michelle) Wilson, Jared (Crystal) Phillips, Matthew Wilson, Andy Phillips, great-grandchildren; Blake and Garrett Wilson, Kayla, Jayla, and Jayce Phillips, and many special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Friday, June 23 at Oak Grove UMC with funeral services starting at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert “Bob” Roten officiating. Committal services will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
